Celebrate Success

I broke my humurous in about 5 places during a snowboard competion one night. My arm was pretty much taken apart including all muscles and ligaments and put back together with 12 screws and 2 plates in the upper arm and 1 big screw in the lower. A rusty hinge is what is felt like for a long time after it started moving again. Kim worked me so hard that i would be in tears. There were so many things that took me months to be able to do again, buttoning shirts, opening doors, eating with both hands. I was able to do most activites after all my physical therapy was done and my home exercises finished the job after about 6 months.

I learned so much about my body and what it can go through and how you can be so broken and bounce back to normal with some hard work and patience. I got a cool full arm hard brace that let me ride after 3 months, i used it everyday for 4 more months and this was taken only 4 months after my injury. I did 2 more snowboard contests this summer and i placed in both of them while wearing the cast. Going through all that pain and work was worth it and i would never have been able to do it alone.
