Celebrate Success

"I started having problems with my knees when I was 27 years old. This led to approximately 21 surgeries between both knees. When I was 48 years old the doctor told me there was nothing else he could do and I would have to have knee replacements. I dreaded having do do this but knew there was no other way. I scheduled the surgery to do both knees at once. While I was waiting for the surgery I needed to have something to look forward to. I asked my husband if he would get me a road bike and teach me to bike, which he readily agreed to. I was also receiving physical therapy at Hand & Orthopedic Rehab and told my PT Steve Crandall my goal, he too was very supportive and has been one of my greatest cheerleaders !

A few months after surgery I got a new bike. My biking experience started off with a few short rides through the neighborhood but I wanted more. I set a goal to ride in a sponsored ride toward the end of summer my first year and I rode 62 miles. Three years later and hundreds of miles of training I just competed LOTOJA which is a sponsored race which goes from Logan Utah to Jackson Wyoming, a total of 206 miles!
